Krisztina Rozanich, a Hungarian painter, lived and worked in Texas before moving to Dublin in 2001. Highly influenced both by the vastness and emptiness of West Texas and the meditative aspects of Eastern philosophies, over the years her work has become progressively concerned with issues of landscape and architecture. Constructed from wood, her paintings reference architectural elements through their highly sculptural forms. As much consideration is given to the painted surface as is given to the construction of the form. The combination of a subtly painted surface and a heavily lacquered finish provides the paintings with an ephemeral nature which counterbalances the physicality of these constructions.
