Martina O'Brien studied in NCAD and Dun Laoghhaire College of Art and Design. Inspiration and lasting impressions gathered on her travels influenced her deeply and facilitated the development of her unique painting technique and style. Her execution of applying oil on canvas, often mixed with other Mediums including bee's wax, results in painterly brushstrokes and bold palette knife textures which gives a multi-dimensional finish to her work.
Her current collection of oil paintings are strongly influenced by colour and form in nature, reflecting the sky, sea and lake lines of Wicklow and the surrounding areas, which she visits often for inspiration.
